Dear DONOR,
Big changes are coming to the way charitable giving is treated for tax purposes, and they could open a unique window of opportunity for 2025. We’re sending this quick note to help you stay informed, to plan and make the most of it.
The Wall Street Journal recently covered some upcoming tax changes in the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” While these changes won’t take effect until 2026, understanding them now can help you take full advantage of the opportunities in 2025, that can benefit you as well as the people we serve.
Here’s the short version:
New standard charitable deduction: $2,000 for couples and $1,000 for individuals, even if you don’t itemize.
Reduced benefits for itemizers: A small 0.5% “haircut” based on adjusted gross income.
Changes for top earners: High-income taxpayers will see a slightly reduced benefit (35% instead of 37%) on charitable deductions.
For many donors, especially those in higher income brackets, this could mean 2025 is the year to maximize charitable giving - before the new limits take effect. It’s a good time to talk with your tax advisor about strategies like making a larger year-end gift, contributing to a donor-advised fund, or planning a special gift to ORG while the full tax benefits are still in place.
If you want to discuss giving strategies before the new tax rules arrive, please contact me at PHONE or EMAIL.
Every gift you give today helps RESTATE MISSION. Thank you for standing with us in 2025 and for years to come.
With gratitude,
